Brachychiton bidwillii

Common Name: Kurrajong, Bottle Tree
Plant Family: Malvaceae
Plant Type: Tender Shrub

Bottle tree from E. Australia with attractive horizontally held felty leaves. Its swollen trunk stores water and copes well with long periods between watering. Curious fleshy red flowers appear on the trunk in late winter, even on small plants. Eventually makes a nice specimen for a large conservatory but its size can be restricted by keeping it in a small pot
