A medium sized shrub renowned for its profusion of bright purple berries in the autumn. Foliage is bronze tinted when young and colours well in the autumn. Normal, not too alkaline soil in sun to part shade. Cut hard back about a third of the stems in spring, or rejuvenate overgrown shrubs by removing all stems to a few inches above ground level.
