A vigorous spreading deciduous shrub growing to around 1.8 x 1.5 metres, with flat lace-caps of white ray florets surrounding the central pink (on alkaline soil) or blue (on acid soil) fertile flowers in summer. Sun or part shade, in moisture retentive soil. The flowers can weight stems down, so this would be good for a bank, so long as the soil is not too dry.

The exact size of plants will vary with the growing season and may be cut back in accordance with normal pruning regimes or to fit in the box if they are excessively tall
