One of our star plants which always provokes comment. This tall shrubby perennial will make a nice specimen for a summer patio or large conservatory. Striking bright orange tubular flowers held in whorls up the stems in late summer. Flowers reminiscent of a Lion's mane. Native to South Africa. Possibly ok outside in mild areas with well-drained soil in a warm spot with a thick dry mulch in winter. Otherwise grow in a large pot and move into a greenhouse or conservatory over winter. It is a vigorous plant and likes a good quality loam based compost and eventually a large pot. Can grow up to around 2m tall
